Bail Recovery Agent Registration Checklist

    Every person acting as a bail recovery agent in the State of New Hampshire shall register annually with the Secretary of State of the State of New Hampshire. 

    INITIAL REGISTRATION 

    To apply for registration, submit directly to this Bureau: 

    1.  Official proof of certification through a program approved by the Professional Bail Agents of the United States. 

    2.  A copy of the $300,000 of liability insurance policy which names the bail agent(s) it covers and states specifically that it covers all activities related to bail recovery by such agent(s) and proof of payment of the premium for the year for which the agent is being registered. 

    Such proof must be provided by any bail agency employing a bail recovery agent or by the bail recovery agent if he/she is an independent contractor. 

    3.  There is currently no fee.
     

    RENEWAL REGISTRATION 

    To apply for renewal for a subsequent year, the applicant must submit a written request for renewal of the registration to the Bureau on or before December 31st of the year that the registration is expiring.  Proof of payment of the premium on the $300,000 liability insurance policy for the ensuing year is required to be submitted with the letter of request.
