    NOTE: Pursuant to RSA 656:5, IV and  RSA 656:5-a, the Secretary of State held a public drawing to select by lot the position of the party columns according to the generic column rotation plan for the general election, as well as the order of candidates for state representative and delegates to the republican state convention on the primary election ballots.
      The public drawing was held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the Secretary of State's Office, State House Room 204

  • Filing Period - June 6 - 15, 2018  NOTE:  June 5th is the LAST day any registered voter can change their party affiliation before the State Primary Election (September 11, 2018), and it is the LAST day that any person who wishes to file as a candidate can register to vote  --  you must be a registered voter of the party you wish to file for in the town where you are domiciled.   The Supervisors of the Checklist are required to meet on June 5th between the hours of 7-7:30 p.m. Please check with your Town or City Clerk's Office  (or check your town/city website or local newspaper) for the place and time of the supervisors session.  (Filing for Office 2018) 

    Declarations of Candidacy - for any candidate filing as republican, democratic or libertarian for the State Primary Election.  All candidates must file a Declaration of Candidacy, a Statement of Financial Interests (RSA 15-A)  and pay the administrative assessment fee OR file the required number of primary petitions as indicated below - RSA 655:19-c. 

    File with Secretary of State:
    Governor | $100 or 200 primary petitions
    Representative in Congress | $50 or 100 primary petitions
    Executive Councilor | $25 or 50 primary petitions
    State Senator | $10 or 20 primary petitions
    County Officer | $10 or 50 primary petitions
     
     

    File with Town or City Clerk's Office:
    State Representative | $2 or 5 primary petitions
    Delegate to the Republican State Convention | no fee and no petitions
     


    Declarations of Intent - for individuals who intend to be a candidate in the general election from a political organization and for political organizations who wish to have the names of their candidates placed on the general election ballot - RSA 665:17-a, 17-c, 40-45. All candidates must file a Declaration of Intent, a Statement of Financial Interests (RSA 15-A) and pay the administrative assessment fee AND file the required nomination papers. 

    File with Secretary of State:
    Governor | $100 AND 3,000 nomination papers* 
    Representative in Congress | $50 AND 1,500 nomination papers
    Executive Councilor | $25 AND 750 nomination papers
    State Senator | $10 AND 750 nomination papers
    County Officer | $10 AND 150 nomination papers
    State Representative | $2 AND 150 nomination papers
    Political Organization | no fee - 22,675 nomination papers
    *1,500 from each congressional district.  Nomination papers for all other offices must be signed by registered voters from the respective district.
     

    Filing Deadlines for Nomination Papers:
    August 8, 2018 - Last day to submit signed nomination papers to Supervisors of the Checklist in town or city
    August 29, 2018 - Supervisors must have nomination papers certified for candidates and organizations
    September 5, 2018 - Last day to file certified nomination papers with Secretary of State's Office
     

    (Nomination papers must be grouped by municipality when filed with the Secretary of State's Office)
